Information we process

Depending on how you use the app, KeepItFresh may process information such as:

• Food inventory items you add
• Shopping list items you create
• Recipes you save or create
• Meal plans you create
• Barcode scan results
• Receipt scan text used to suggest items for your review
• App preferences and settings
• Optional basic app-usage information, when you enable anonymous analytics
• Your name, email address and message when you choose to contact us

How information is used

KeepItFresh uses this information to provide the app’s core features, including:

• Tracking kitchen inventory
• Managing shopping lists
• Helping you monitor expiry dates
• Scanning barcodes and receipts
• Generating recipe suggestions
• Supporting meal planning and saved recipes

Camera and on-device processing

KeepItFresh requests access to your camera only when you choose to scan a barcode or import items from a receipt. Receipt images and text recognition are processed on your device using Apple’s Vision technologies. Where available, Apple’s on-device language model may also help classify scanned products and suggest likely shelf-life information.

Data storage

KeepItFresh stores your kitchen, shopping, recipe and meal-planning data primarily on your device. Where iCloud is available and enabled for the app, Apple’s CloudKit service may sync this information between your devices under your Apple Account and iCloud settings.

Third-party services

KeepItFresh uses Apple-provided frameworks and services for functions such as local storage, optional iCloud synchronisation, camera scanning, text recognition and on-device suggestions.

When you scan a product barcode, the barcode value may be sent to Open Food Facts to look up product details. Receipt images and recognised receipt text are not sent to Open Food Facts.

If further third-party services are introduced, this Privacy Policy will be updated to describe them.

Optional app analytics

KeepItFresh includes a setting for sharing anonymous usage analytics. When enabled, this may include basic feature events together with the app version, build number, selected language, operating-system version and device family.

Inventory item names, notes, receipt text, allergy details and direct identifiers are not included. You can turn this setting off at any time from Privacy in the app’s Settings.

Website analytics

The KeepItFresh website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand page views, visits, referring websites and page performance. Cloudflare describes this service as privacy-first and states that it does not collect or use visitors’ personal data. The website does not use advertising trackers.

Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your information with third parties except where necessary to operate specific app features or where required by law.

Any service provider processing information on behalf of KeepItFresh is expected to protect it consistently with this policy and applicable data-protection requirements.

Retention and deletion

Information stored locally remains on your device until you edit or delete it, remove the app, or your device and backup settings remove it. Information synchronised through iCloud is retained according to your Apple Account and iCloud settings.

Messages you email to KeepItFresh are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, provide support and maintain an appropriate record of the conversation.

You can delete individual items, shopping entries, recipes and meal plans within the app. You can also contact us if you have a question or request concerning information that KeepItFresh controls.

Your choices and rights

You can control camera permission in your device settings, disable anonymous app analytics in KeepItFresh Settings and manage iCloud access through your Apple Account settings.

Depending on where you live and the nature of the information involved, you may have rights to request access, correction or deletion, or to restrict or object to processing. Some rights may not apply to information that remains solely on your device and is not accessible to KeepItFresh.

Children’s privacy

KeepItFresh is not directed to children under the age of 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the effective date on this page.
